The end is Here (May 10-14)

The end of the semester means the end of all housing fall 2010 – spring 2010 contracts and leases. During this time busy time for operations, we are focused on strategically planning for the next school year. This week I'm working on the freshman move-in guide for incoming freshman coming in the fall. I am using pictures to include in the booklet to show what campus living is all about. It's our job to communicate to incoming students all the amenities H&F has to offer residents.

Fall 2010 (May 3-7)

The donation flyers are printed and posted. It's a good feeling to see your work located through out the residence halls. This week I have started placing photo into our freshman move in guide. Professional photos of student life in OU housing taken by Shevaun Williams is the photo source for the booklet. Also, I worked on the presentation of The Laughing Tomato menu which will be sent to the food services department. I notice a few writing errors when shaping the publication. I talked to Lauren about the errors since I didn't make the menu. After taking PR writing and publications, I'm more aware of smaller details as proofread my work. I don't caught every error but my writing has definitely improved.

Get to class in a minute when you live on campus! (April 19-23)

On Thursday morning, those who were scheduled to work passed out the juice boxes just south of Lindsey St. We wanted to provide students with juice on their way to class as well as remind students to complete their contract for fall. We choose minute maid juice boxes to handout since it didn't violate H&F contract with Coca-cola. Last week, we attached the reminders to each juice box. I enjoyed being outside on such a pretty day and interacting with students excited to get an unexpected free juice box. This was our push to remind busy students to think about where home will be for them next semester.

donate your unwanted items! (week of April 19-23)

This week in the intern office I was given the task to design a end of the year donation flyer. My goal was to inform student that donation will be collected in designated locations in each residence hall. This gives students the opportunity to donate any unwanted items The donation would be distributed locally to those in need. Each center had a custom flyer to show where the donation location was in that particular building. I worked in InDesign to pull the whole

Coke floats! April 12-16

On Wednesday, we made coke floats next to the Cate Center to promote the Route 66 Meal taking place that evening. We were grateful coke zero provided cases of cokes for the floats so we were only responsible for the ice cream cups etc. Fortunately, we picked the perfect day to put on this event because the weather was perfect.

This was our fun little way to help food services get the word out about their "Special Meals" held weekly. Our goal was to build students awareness and as result increase overall attendance to the special meal. The special meals originated to add new foods to the menu during these dinners. Since the renovation of Couch Restaurants, a WIDE variety of food is now available everyday to customers and we find that students don't know or look forward to the meals anymore. Hopefully, spreading the word while handing out FREE coke floats helped increase the desired awareness and attendance.

Through out the week, I worked on H&F Social Responsibility Fair flyer which will be on April 22, 2010. The fair will display the actions and precautions H&F takes to be social responsible. Also, the intern team in preparing for another promo event to encourage students to live on campus next school year. We'll be handing out Minute Maid juice boxes with the tagline "Get to class in a minute when you live on campus" attached to each.

March 22-26

On March 24-26, prospective transfer students came to OU's Transfer Student Days. These students were able to learn more about the university, enroll in classes and make arrangements for housing in the fall. We were able to set up an informational table in Buchanan Hall, which was one of the hot spot locations for visiting students and their families. Aaron and I had housing information, free T-shirts, cups and more to give out. Also the CAC Housing Fair took place in the Student Union on Friday. Apartment complexes could pay to have a display table in the Union during the fair. The theme for the H&F informational table was Goldie locks and the 3 bears (helping residents finding housing thats jussst right for them). The interns put together a backdrop of a window with red and while checkered curtains to go with the theme of the table.
