Inside Edition

Public Relations is one major that does not get enough credit for its required hard work and dedication. Last semester, I was enrolled in my intro level classes for Public Relations and began gaining experience by interning with the Markering and PR Department for OU Housing and Food Service. My first semester with the department gave me an insider look on the tedious work that goes into each publication. I've excepeted that each skill and technique can be learned through practice and research. I started my internship wanting to know how to do EVERYTHING related to PR. However, I quickly realized I had to start somewhere; even if it was at the very beginning. InDesign was a whole new world to me and not knowing how to do the basics was frustrating. I didn't want to bug my fellow intern or supervisor with an overload of questions, but after time I realizaed the only way I was going to learn is to ask questions. Now entering the second semester of my internship, I come with a better understanding of what is expected of me. I know everything is not going to be perfect the first time. I reach out to the Markert/PR Specialist Supervisor, Lauren Royston, Assistant Supervisior, Aaron Lindley, and my fellow experienced interns for advice, InDesign lessons or even a second opinion.
